My introduction to Doceo came through a friend who had previously taken part in the EmpowerED programme. The way they described both the organisation and the experience really resonated with me, particularly as someone seeking fair, meaningful, and impactful work experience. I applied with hope, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made for my professional development.
Unlike any other work experience I’d had, Doceo offered a genuine, behind-the-scenes insight into real workplace environments. Having access to the day-to-day processes and cultures of organisations like IBM and White & Case was both enlightening and invaluable. Being able to speak directly with employees and ask honest questions helped me build confidence, especially seeing how open, supportive, and encouraging everyone was.
Doceo also fundamentally changed how I approach applications and interviews. I learned how to prepare effectively, structure answers using techniques like the STAR method, and present myself with confidence. The mock interviews and practical tasks provided me with a strong foundation, which I later applied successfully in degree apprenticeship interviews, including processes for firms such as Goldman Sachs.
I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of a Doceo programme. The experience has had a lasting impact on my confidence and career direction, and it’s the reason I plan to continue engaging with their future events. I would strongly encourage any young person looking to grow professionally to take advantage of the opportunities Doceo provides.
