What programmes does Doceo offer for students?

Doceo offers three core programmes aimed at developing employability skills for young people:

  • EmpowerED Programme: This in-person programme for 16-18 year old students is run alongside corporate partners, providing students with hands-on experiences and professional networking opportunities in Tech or Law. How can I get involved in Doceo’s programmes?

You can apply directly on our website on the relevant pages once applications open! Each programme runs once a year, and we typically open applications 2-3 months before the programme starts. Be sure to keep an eye out for announcements and updates so you don’t miss the application window.

Are Doceo's programmes and events free?

Yes, all our programmes and events are completely free. At Doceo, we believe that every young person, regardless of their background, should have the skills, confidence, and opportunities to pursue their career ambitions. To make this a reality, we use the generous funding from our corporate partners and grant sponsors to subsidise the cost of our programmes for the students who apply. Additionally, for our physical programmes, we typically reimburse travel expenses up to £150.

How can Doceo help students find career opportunities?

In addition to the career opportunities provided through our programmes, Doceo offers an Opportunity Board on our website, where students can find a variety of work experience, internships, and career development opportunities. These opportunities are updated weekly, so be sure to check back regularly! By subscribing to our Monthly Newsletter, you’ll receive a curated list of the top opportunities for the month, including some exclusive ones reserved for our student and parent newsletter communities.

Can Doceo provide mentorship for students?

Yes, Doceo offers 1-1 mentoring as part of its Aspiring Leaders Programme, where students receive personalised support and career guidance from professionals within their fields. This mentorship helps students build valuable connections, gain insight into their chosen industries, and develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

Additionally, we provide one-off mentorship opportunities in collaboration with our corporate partners. These special opportunities are shared with our student community via our Student Community Group and are also included in our Monthly Student Newsletter. Volunteers

Who can volunteer with Doceo?

Anyone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them develop essential skills for their future. We welcome volunteers from all professional backgrounds, as long as they are eager to share their knowledge, insights, and experiences. For roles involving direct student interaction, a valid DBS check is required to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

Doceo offers a range of volunteering opportunities to suit different levels of availability and expertise. You can mentor students on the Aspiring Leaders Programme (ALP), deliver skill-building workshops, review CVs and applications through Career LaunchPad, or support our in-person programmes. Do I need prior experience in mentoring or teaching to volunteer?

 No, prior mentoring or teaching experience is not required! We provide guidance and resources to help you feel confident in your role. Your willingness to share your professional journey, skills, and advice is what truly makes an impact on our students.

What time commitment is required for volunteering?

The time commitment varies depending on the volunteer role you choose. Some opportunities, like reviewing CVs or delivering a single workshop, require just a few hours, while mentoring on the ALP involves a longer-term commitment over several weeks. We’ll always provide clear expectations before you confirm your participation.

Can I volunteer remotely?

 Yes! Many of our opportunities, such as Virtual Skill Sessions, the Career LaunchPad, and online mentoring, can be done remotely. Some in-person opportunities, like our EmpowerED Programme, require volunteers to attend sessions at partner locations. We’ll make it clear which opportunities suit your availability and location.
