Being part of Doceo has transformed the way I view apprenticeships, work experience and insight days. While I was ambitious and motivated before joining their programmes, I wasn’t always confident in how to present myself or navigate professional environments. Doceo helped me turn that motivation into action through structured opportunities to develop employability skills, gain real exposure to employers, and build long-term confidence. One of the most valuable aspects of Doceo is its consistent focus on long-term growth rather than short-term outcomes.
This journey began with a series of workshops focused on personal branding and reflection. I learned how to communicate my experiences clearly and professionally, particularly through LinkedIn. Doceo shared practical advice on building a personal brand, which encouraged me to start sharing my own journey on a professional platform. After taking part in the EmpowerED programme, delivered in partnership with IBM and White & Case, I shared my reflections in a LinkedIn post. The response to this post led to some of the most meaningful interactions I’ve had so far, showing me how powerful honest communication about learning and growth can be. This experience significantly boosted my confidence and helped me realise that my voice and experiences can generate meaningful engagement and opportunities.
Through EmpowerED, I also had the opportunity to work in real-world professional environments at both IBM and White & Case. These experiences gave me valuable insight into different industries and career pathways, and helped me understand what employers value beyond academic achievement. Hearing from professionals with diverse backgrounds reinforced the idea that there is no single path to success, making these careers feel more attainable and less intimidating.
Alongside this, Doceo’s workshops and mentoring strengthened my skills in communication, networking, adaptability and professional confidence. I learned how to ask thoughtful questions, engage with professionals without fear, and leave lasting impressions. These experiences highlighted the importance of soft skills and their role in long-term career success.
Doceo has also helped me develop a strong growth mindset. Open discussions around rejection, uncertainty and non-linear career paths encouraged me to view challenges as learning opportunities. As a result, I have become more adaptable, resilient and better equipped to manage pressure both academically and professionally.
Reconnecting with Zoe, Co-founder of Doceo, led to further involvement with the organisation. Through our discussions, I was offered the role of Student Ambassador. This position has connected me more deeply with the Doceo community, allowed me to represent programmes I genuinely believe in, and supported my continued personal and professional growth. It has strengthened my sense of belonging and purpose, and I am excited to see where this opportunity leads.
Overall, Doceo has significantly increased my confidence and self-awareness, while reassuring me about my future. I have gained essential employability skills and invaluable experience in professional settings. I am truly grateful for the support Doceo has provided, and I would highly recommend the organisation to any student looking to build confidence, develop key skills, and access opportunities that can make a real difference to their future.
