PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
London, United Kingdom | August 2025 –
Doceo, the youth-focused educational social enterprise equipping underrepresented 14–18-year-olds with vital life and career skills, has successfully delivered the Money Matters 2025 Programme in partnership with Barclays Bank. The programme, designed to address the gap in financial education, brought together 28 students from across London for a one-day immersive experience at Barclays’ Moorgate office.
Throughout the day, students participated in workshops on Smart money management, budgeting, online financial safety, and wealth-building. They also took part in an investor pitch challenge, developing not only financial literacy but also confidence, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Beyond the curriculum, students met Barclays employees, participated in a careers panel, and learned about innovative initiatives like Barclays Eagle Labs, gaining rare insight into the professional world.
Why It Matters
With only 26% of young people recalling any formal financial education, and three-quarters of UK teachers stating students leave school without basic money skills, initiatives like Money Matters are more crucial than ever.
Key outcomes from Money Matters 2025:
- 100% of students rated the programme as very good or excellent
- 100% said they would recommend it to others
- 68.4% indicated they are likely to pursue internships or work experience in finance
- 70% identified as female; 90% as ethnic minorities
- Top boroughs: Bromley, Bexley, Barking & Dagenham
The programme also included 15 volunteers (10 from Doceo, 5 from Barclays), who provided one-to-one guidance, group facilitation, and mentorship throughout the day.
Crowdfunding for 2026: Keep the Momentum Going
Now, Doceo is urging the community to help realise the potential of Money Matters 2026. A crowdfunding campaign is now live, with a target of £5,000 to fund:
