With busy schedules, school commitments and a never-ending to-do list, it can be hard to find time to commit to doing work experience as a student. But with employers looking for more and more experience even at entry-level, getting work-experience in some form is becoming seemingly non-negotiable.
A great option, which can be overlooked, is to try virtual work experience. Remote work experience has its own advantages. Requiring only a laptop/computer and stable wifi connection to get started, it has increased accessibility and often, much lower costs. You can apply to companies across the country and gain insight into companies you otherwise would not encounter. Often students forget to include any online courses, internships or workshops they took as they see it as unimportant or with less merit but this is far from the case. Online work experience can offer all the same lessons of knowledge, skills application and networking that in-person experience offers. It is legitimate experience you can talk about on your CV and use to explore future career paths.
